The electric steam generators type CD DUPLEX and type CD DRILLING are electrically heated boilers and comply with Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23/EC from 29 May 2002. Their operation does not require supervision or permission. This means: no downtimes and no costs for regular checks by the technical inspection authorities (TÜV) which are otherwise obligatory.

Softened water flows into the feed water tank. The water level is regulated by a float valve and can be checked through the gauge glass. The thermometer measures the temperature of the feed water in the tank. Due to the recirculation of hot condensate to the feed water tank, the temperature there can increase to more than 70°C. This results in the formation of bubbles in the tank and in malfunctions of the feed water pump. When the drain valve is opened, the water level drops and fresh water flows in so that the temperature in the feed water tank drops.
The feed water pump feeds the water from the tank to the pressure vessel. The electronic water level control regulates the water level inside the steam boiler by means of level electrodes or a float switch 2), as well as the activation and deactivation of the heating and protects the electric heating elements against damage due to malfunctions (low water level protection). The electric heating elements heat and vaporise the feed water inside the pressure vessel.
To avoid overloading of the electricity net the equipment can be switched on and off in steps. 3). The manumeter shows the level of the steam pressure. When the pressure control reaches the kettle pressure of 500 kPa (5 bar) the heating will automatically switch off and restart again at 450 kPa (4,5 bar). The steam can be taken out at the valve of turning off. The savety valve avoids overpressure, it reacts at 580 kPa (5,8 bar).
Any condensate accumulating in the steam line and the consumers can be returned to the water circulation via the condensate inlet of the feed water tank.
